After the Dust Settles...

and you look around and wonder what happened and how the heck did I get here?
The everyday ramblings of a sometimes busy, sometimes not so busy, MIDDLE AGED, work at home mom.

Thank goodness we have a counter....

or we would have no where to eat. My business is run in little areas, all over our house. The kiln is in the garage, computer in the living room, molds in the basement, and I paint at the kitchen table. Had I known I would have someday been working at home, I would have planned maybe a craft room or something to be built onto our house. As it is, I am just spread througout the house.

The kitchen table gets cleared off for special occasions.....like Thanksgiving, or a birthday or a family get together. It is rarely void of piggy banks. Tomorrow we are having family out to celebrate my youngest's 12th birthday. So today I have been trying to finish the 8 piggy banks I need for a large order. The detailing is done, but I still need to glaze them. They'll be getting moved in the morning, undone *sigh*. I'd rather be able to just finish them and put them in the kiln, but there are only so many hours in a day and I have a party to prepare for. And I really should make my family feel welcome, and not like they are in the way....it is the weekend afterall.

We do have a nice counter area where we regularly eat as a family of 3 (4, when Katie is home from college), or I suppose we might have to stand and eat. OR I would have to find somewhere else to paint....like the basement. I briefly I thought about it, but it is too gloomy and dark. I need my windows and TV. Besides, the basement is hubby's domain and I already use a corner of it for the molds. I'll just continue to use the kitchen table, knowing I have to clean it off for special occasions....or until I am wealthy enough to add a studio onto the house : )
